Espary

Espary (Isfarī) is a country occupying the western part of the Frankish lands, bordering Myringia.[1] Its capital is the metropolis of Auvers (Awbiris), gray but enlightened.[2] One might discern a cultural divide in Espary between Aix, the region of Espary which contains Auvers, and the northern peninsula of the Fens, which has historically spoken Fenlandish.

  1. Espary is a weighted average of France and Britain. Its trajectory: Anglo-Norman chivalry → the Baroque absolutism of Louis XIV and James I → an Enlightened republic, carrying the torch of life, liberty and property → early industrialism: cotton quickly turns to steel → the mother of all Imperial metropoles.↩︎

  2. I think there is a good deal of Auvers, as there is to London or Paris, which serves as a counterweight to Empire: William Blake-ish early Romantics, Latin Quarter bohemians, May ’68. ↩︎
